From Canada’s arctic underwater heritage to thousands of years of trade and transport along the coasts of the Mediterranean, maritime archaeology is a discipline within archaeology that studies human interaction with the seas, lakes and rivers.

Technology today provides the tools to go deeper and further to study the remains of submerged landscapes. CARO members’ passion and expertise in this discipline ensures new discoveries and new knowledge are brought to light.
